4 Stretches to Help Avoid Tech Neck
We can all relate to finding ourselves slouched forward, staring at our screens. You start upright then you slowly find yourself with a rounded back and your chin almost to your check as you start at your screen. Let's avoid getting the so-called Tech Neck.
Stand up, make some space and let's go. Use these four stretches to help avoid tech neck.
Forward, Backward and Side to Side
Tilt your head forward, backward and to each side. For this stretch keep your eyes facing forward. Place your hand on your head, but don't add any force. Use the weight of your hand to help deepen your stretch.
Shoulder Roll
Sit up straight. Roll your shoulders forward. Roll your shoulders backwards. Roll on shoulder one-by-one. As you roll your shoulders, you can move your head from side to side.
Neck Rotations
Turn your head to the left and gaze over your left shoulder. Turn your head to the right and gaze over your right shoulder. Look up to the sky, with your gaze looking at the stars. Look to the floor, trying to touch your chin to your chest. Clasp your hands behind your back and pull your hands down. Do the neck rotations again with your hands like this and you will feel a little back stretch.
Clasping Neck Stretch
Place the palms of your hands on the back of your head with your elbows out to the side. Slowly move your elbows forward and then begin to point them to the ground. Gaze downward. Slowly move your head so your forehead is parallel with the floor. Go slow. Your hands are to help direct your head- do not apply additional pressure. The weight of your hands should be enough.
